The lyric tenor was born in Hanover and is characterized by his versatility. In addition to his wide-ranging song and concert repertoire he also impresses on the opera stage with his playful qualities.

In September 2024 Robert Bartneck starts his second season at the Vienna Volksoper where he will perform Camille de Rosillon (Die lustige Witwe), Prunier (La Rondine), Pluto (Orpheus in der Unterwelt) and Alfred (Die Fledermaus)

A special highlight in the young tenor's career was an engagement in the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera from 2020 to 2023 where he worked with many well-known conductors, such as Philippe Jordan, Adam Fischer, Franz Welser-Möst, Bertrand de Billy, Pablo Heras-Casado , Cornelius Meister, Axel Kober and Alexander Soddy. There he appeared as Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), Monostatos (The Magic Flute), Lukas (The Seasons), Eumete (Il ritorno d'ulisse in patria), Remendado (Carmen), Gaston (La Traviata), Tschekalinski (Queen of Spades), Victorin (The Dead City), Dr. Blind (Die Fledermaus) and as a young servant (Elektra).

After completing his studies, his first permanent engagement took him to the Meiningen State Theater,where he performed as Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Prunier (La Rondine), Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Remendado (Carmen). Further engagements took the artist to  Graz Opera, the Graz Music Association, Magdeburg Theater and the Danube Festival Weeks in Strudengau (AT), where he performed the role of Prince Ali in Haydn's opera L'Incontro improvviso under the baton of Michi Gaigg and with the L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra.

As a concert singer, Robert Bartneck has a wide-ranging repertoire from numerous works by Bach, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation and  the Seasons, the important works of Mozart, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle to Verdi's Messa da Requiem and Orff's Carmina Burana. His performances have taken him to  such renowned music festivals as the Zagreb Classic Open Air or to concert stages throughout Europe and China and are regularly recorded on radio and television.

The singer was also able to demonstrate his special bond with German Lied at numerous recitals. His interpretations of Franz Schubert's songs deserve special mention.

Robert Bartneck studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. He began his singing training with Ulf Bästlein and completed it with Elisabeth Batrice, and participated in master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Kurt Equiluz, Angelika Kirchschlager and Charles Spencer.
